Sales Wimps Go Easy On Themselves

Knock Knock! Who's there? Figs. Figs who? Figs the doorbell, it's broken!

Knock Knock! Who's there? Figs. Figs who? Figs the doorbell, it's broken!

Knock Knock! Who's there? Figs. Figs who? Figs the doorbell, it's broken!

Knock Knock! Who's there? Figs. Figs who? Figs the doorbell, it's broken!

Knock Knock! Who's there? Figs. Figs who? Figs the doorbell, it's broken!

Why is it that jokes that are repeated lose their impact, but failed launches, missteps, set backs, wrong turns, and, yes, the bone-headed decisions we have made in the past continue to

  • haunt us
  • grind us down,
  • wear us out,
  • take the giddyup out of our get-on-up?

Like you, I'm my own worst critic.

Like you, I've tossed and turned and punched walls and clenched my jaw and ground my teeth as I rehashed the wasteful $10,000 in a hair-brained idea or the lost $50,000 from a "partner" who stole from me or the $15,000 spent on a trade show that didn't pan out or the...you get the idea.

Mistakes happen.

Only beat yourself up if you make the same mistake twice.

If you're making honest mistakes...
Hard-charging mistakes...
Entrepreneurial mistakes...

Dust yourself off.

Pick up the pieces as best you can.

Make sure you learn from them.

Then move on.

As Mark Twain reminded us,

Good judgement is the result of experience and experience the result of bad judgement.”

Keep doing. Testing. Producing. Failing. Improving.

What do you need to get better at?

Leave a comment below about what you keep beating yourself up over and how you can get better at moving past it. Get it off your chest and get some help from your fellow entrepreneurs and me as well.

Or just contact me and we'll set a time to speak.

Now go sell something.
