The Best Advice On How To Focus and Hit Your Goals

Written by Wes Schaeffer | Jul 10, 2023

"I have fallen off the last couple weeks. What are your keys to keeping mission focused?"

This question was recently asked in my private group, The Implementors, and here's my response:

Discipline = Responsibility = Freedom

Having a training partner/mentor/coach hold you accountable helps you focus.

It's easy to get distracted. Create a calendar for yourself that includes everything you WANT to do:

  • Physical
  • Spiritual
  • Family
  • Hobbies

Then squeeze work into it.

The day before you leave for vacation, you get a lot done, not because you're better that day but because you're focused. You have a deadline.

When you know you have to knock off work at 5:15 to get to the dojo by 5:45 to warm up for two hours of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, you don't get caught up in Facebook debates or other B.S.

When you know you have to leave at 7:10 am to go to daily Mass but you have 90 minutes of reading and writing to do before then, it means you have to be up by 5:30 AM at the latest to get it done.

To get up by 5 AM means you can't go partying the night before, so you drink less booze, eat a better meal, and go to bed early.

When you've done some physical activity, you want to eat better, drink less, and you go to bed tired and sleep like a rock.

Soon you find yourself in better shape, better rested despite doing more, and you're well on your way to making every sale.

It takes discipline to get all that done, but when you start with one good thing, then it's easier to build a second good thing, and when you have a training partner/accountability partner, it gets easier.

Now that you have your "want to do" stuff scheduled, then you squeeze in your work.

When you are less available, people respect your time.

When people respect your time, you have fewer B.S. meetings, and you get more done with the meetings you take.

That means you can raise your prices because you're more effective, so you can serve more people at a higher price and do it better so everyone wins.

Market like you mean it.
Now go sell something.
