We all have dreams. Uncover them. Stop trying to find something in common. Find out why they are passionate / interested in something. Find the source of the passion and how it makes them feel.
When they are passionate and in the zone / euphoria of being in their passion, they'll be more open and interested in what you have to say and offer.
So even if you have nothing in common you can still get along and create a connection, a bond.
You can stop being paralyzed by over-analyzing how to bond with someone you may have little, outward commonalities...but in reality, we're all humans, which means we have most things in common.
Now you have ther emotional and intellectual attention and they respect you.
Now they trust you.
