Back in the day (2008 and 2009), ALL of my prospects had to double opt in to my Keap email platform in order to get my pearls of wisdom.
Then I heard a lot of "gurus" were getting away from the practice, and since it wasn't required by Keap or the SPAM police, I stopped doing it, too.
After all, the name of the game was to attract prospects, capture them and nurture them with my brilliance so they couldn't help but line up to throw money at me, right?
Right???
So I didn't have people double-opt-in for a couple of years at least.
Fast forward to the Fall of 2012, and Keap releases this little Email Confirmation Request Snippet.
After playing with it a bit and discussing the best ways to utilize it, I came up with the Campaign layout you see above.
Now I'm building all of my Campaigns this way.
What happens is a new prospect receives the double opt-in request immediately. (There are advantages to having them double opt-in, like faster delivery, delivery from better servers, etc.)
But inside of that little sequence, I set the delay time to just 15 minutes after the delivery of the confirmation request.
I then connect the delivery and nurture sequence directly to the Email Confirmation Request sequence with the "Confirm Email" goal offset.
Why?
If the prospect confirms, they'll get the email with the content they are after.
If they don't confirm, they still get the email, but they have to wait 15 minutes (but they don't know that.) So more people are confirming, and that's a good thing.
So try this little setup and let me know if it helps.
What is your double-opt-in practice?
Do you ask all contacts to do so?
Does your email service provider mandate it?
